Hey,

Here’s something most people don’t stop to ask:

Do my finances actually reflect what I value most?

It sounds simple—but for many of us, the answer is no.

And when our money habits don’t match what matters most to us, we often feel stuck, stressed, or out of control—even if we're doing everything “right” on paper.

But this misalignment isn’t just a money issue.

As a therapist, I see this every day:

👉 People living out of sync with their values tend to feel anxious, burnt out, or directionless—not just financially, but relationally, emotionally, and spiritually.

That’s why I created something for you:

✅ Your Free Values Clarification Worksheet

This worksheet is simple, but powerful. It will help you:

  • Identify the values that matter most to you

  • Understand where your current habits may be out of alignment

  • Get clear on what to prioritize, protect, and invest in going forward

You’ll scan a list of values, check off what resonates, narrow it down to 10, and then star your top 5. I use this same worksheet with my clients in the therapy room to aid them in identifying what drives them in life.

Choosing just five values might feel impossible—and that’s okay. There are so many good, meaningful, and deeply important words on the list. But the goal here isn’t to rank everything—it’s to hone in on your core values: the ones that most consistently drive you, ground you, and give your life direction.

These are the values that shape your decisions, your energy, and your relationships. They’ll often influence and include other values indirectly.

💡 And remember:

Just because something doesn’t make your top 5 or 10 doesn’t mean you don’t care about it. This is about clarity—not exclusion.

🧠 Why This Matters

When you don’t know what you value, it’s easy to:

  • Overspend on things that don’t fulfill you

  • Feel guilty even when you can afford something

  • Chase goals that don’t really belong to you

  • Make reactive decisions—then wonder why you’re still stressed

Clarifying your values gives you a compass.

It helps you filter decisions (financial and otherwise) through the lens of:

“Does this align with the life I want to build?”

💬 5 Powerful Reflection Questions

Once you complete the worksheet, I encourage you to journal or discuss these with a partner:

  1. How are your current spending habits supporting or contradicting each of your top 5 values?

  2. What financial goals would best align with your core values?

  3. Where might you need to reallocate spending to better reflect your values

  4. What financial decisions have you made recently that felt "off" - and how might they have conflicted with your values?

  5. Do the people closest to me know what I value most—and are we supporting each other in living it out?

This worksheet also makes a great conversation starter with your spouse or partner.

Values misalignment is a root cause of many relational conflicts around money—and this tool can help uncover what’s really going on beneath the budgeting debates.
